The University of the Philippines College of Engineering Libraries acknowledge individuals who contribute to the development of its collection, services, and facilities through gifts and donations. The amount of gratitude that the Library has for these individuals, especially the alumni who were able to remember their College Library after graduating, is incomparable. Mr. Cesar E. A. Virata and Ms. Jennly Lim are among those individuals who have recognized the Library as a repository of materials which could be of further use by the students and researchers of the Library.

The Library acknowledges their generosity to donate books which could be used by several departments of the College of Engineering. Their initiative shows how much they values and appreciate the role of libraries in providing resources which would be used by the engineers of today and tomorrow. The College of Engineering Libraries highly commend their donations, as these resources serve as support to the education and research growth of the College.

Mr. Virata has donated a total of 7 books to the Library while Ms. Lim's donations total 173 titles.

Here for you, come rain or shine

Ms. Sharon Maria S. Esposo-Betan, Head Librarian of the UP College of Engineering Library, was awarded the Irmgard Lankenau Poster Award for winning the Best Poster during the 38th Annual IATUL Conference. Her poster“Advocacy Towards User Responsibility and Lifelong Learning”, presents the UP College of Engineering Library’s advocacy to promote shared responsibility among users in the care, upkeep, and maintenance of library resources and facilities through the “I Need. I Value. I Love My Library” campaign. It describes the eight-year experience and transformation of this library innovation – from a simple library awareness campaign to helping rebuild Philippine libraries stricken by natural disasters.

The International Association of University Libraries (IATUL) is a prestigious international library association that aims to provide a framework of support for library decision makers by conducting a series of workshops for leadership training and forums for the exchange of ideas relevant to librarianship. This year, the Conference was hosted by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano University Library last June 18-22, 2017 in Bolzano, Italy.
