UP COE Digital Institutional Repository (DIR)

Strengthening the local collection. Advancing Engglib's niche.

UP Engglib recognizes the significant contributions of the UP College of Engineering (COE) faculty members in the advancement of academic research. This thought led to the development of the Digital Institutional Repository (DIR) that intends to provide a foundation for the collection of digital materials coming from the College. DIR is aimed to strengthen the Library's local collection and to advance the niche of Engglib as a major provider of information related to engineering. This was initiated for the following objectives:

  • To store and preserve COE's intellectual properties including unpublished articles or grey literature to one location,
  • To provide access to faculty publications for future research assessment, and
  • To provide COE faculty with a content management system to house their digital scholarly work.

At present, DIR serves as the storehouse of the digital copies of published and unpublished journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and presentations authored by COE faculty members. DIR also has a built-in search and retrieval system in order to make the stored works easily searchable and accessible. By developing the DIR, the library maintains its mandate as a local repository -- a guardian of culture and heritage of the UP College of Engineering.
